Private Damian Wright joined the Army on 13 November 2002, and completed his training at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick before joining C Company, 1st Battalion the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters on 2 June 2003, whilst it was stationed in Chester. During his time with the Battalion he served in Northern Ireland, Afghanistan on Op HERRICK 1 and Bosnia. He also took part in exercises in Kenya, Belize and Cyprus.
Lieutenant Colonel Simon Banton Commanding Officer 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment (Worcesters & Foresters) said:
"Private Wright was one of the key characters in our Battalion. Full of life, a natural comedian and a man guaranteed to lift the spirits of the most down hearted. He was devoted to his son, Joshua, and our thoughts are with him at this desperate time. Private Wright will not be forgotten by anyone who had the pleasure and privilege of meeting him."

i found a link to another mates death and wondered if damo had a page on here. if i'd have known i'd have written before.i'm glad to whoever set this up, thanks!!
i knew damo for long time and he was more of a man than most people i know. we first met at stonham.he was very young. even at a young age he thought he was ali. he stood his ground whenever he thought he was right but also had the guts to apologise when he wasn't.
i went to germany with him and a few other lads. i think he'd finally found his calling walking around germany with a butterfly knife in each hand spinning them both around like bruce lee.
we went to a club one night, we didnt know but it was a nazi club. they hated english people so we said we were irish. he went to the toilet on his own and some crazy german guy started going off to him. the only word he knew was yes so all he could do was say 'ja'.
that was enough though. this guy shaked his hand and walked off.
on the way home some other random wanted to fight him for money when we waited for the train. luckily the train came within a few mins.
when he joined the army i went to uni and didnt see him as much but when we did it was as if we hadn't been apart.
i think the drunken point im making is no matter what happens damo has this inept way of getting through it intact. hes like the last of the mohicans. that's why its all so hard to believe even after all these years.
i don't know why god needed another angel but goodnight mate. you are obviously the best man for the job
